My paintings and drawings show that I am intrigued by the human condition, by man in all his varied shapes, forms and actions. I draw on this to find inspiration in the trips I have made and the cultures which I have experienced. For me, a portrait must be more than a good likeness. I strive to give an impression of the subject; the character and the energy of the person behind the image.
I am fascinated by the (old) discipline and sleek lines of technical drawings. This finds its way into my work in the form of simple objects or shapes with an ancient history. A great inspiration is the man who strives to unravel the relationships on earth.

I have had an interest in drawing and painting from a young age. While training as an Art Teacher and when attending the Art School in Utrecht  I took classes in multiple disciplines. I have continued to develop myself since then by taking part in workshops with famous artists, inspiring painters groups and model drawing sessions. Drawing and painting have grown to become my undeniable passion.

Since 2010 I have been a member of 'Atelier 13', a group of painters that has a premises in Bussum with 2 floors. The location is fully furnished as a studio, and is used by multiple artists.
At the start of 2013 I was asked to take part in a new collective, the Kunstcollectief Oranje. The collective is made up of roughly 50 artists, who work in various disciplines. The current exhibition is themed around the Dutch Royal Family. It is a travelling exhibition showing in different locations throughout the Netherlands, at least until 'Prinsjesdag'* in September 2014.

*) Prinsjesdag (English: Prince's Day) is the day on which the reigning monarch of the Netherlands (currently King Willem-Alexander) addresses a joint session of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives in the Ridderzaal or Hall of Knights in The Hague.
